EDI Transition for California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Northern Mariana Island Part A Submitters

On October 26, 2007, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) announced the award of the contract for the combined administration of Part A and Part B Medicare fee-for-service claims in Jurisdiction 1 (J1) to Palmetto GBA. This jurisdiction includes California, Hawaii, Nevada, American Samoa, Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Palmetto GBA EDI is pleased to assume this important role and for the opportunity to serve your EDI needs.  Our team is committed to working with the submitter, provider, and vendor communities to ensure an efficient transition.

The attached letter was mailed in April to all EDI Part A submitters in California, Nevada, Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa and Northern Mariana Island currently submitting electronically to NGS. This information is to assist you in transitioning your EDI transactions to Palmetto GBA.

Our goal is to make the transition of your EDI activities to Palmetto GBA as simple as possible. To facilitate a timely transition of all current electronic submitters to J1 A/B MAC, we will begin migration of electronic submitters from your existing front-end system to the J1 A/B MAC EDI Gateway, GPNet, immediately. This is known as "Early Boarding." Early Boarding allows you to effect connectivity to J1 A/B MAC in a timely and efficient manner, and it allows J1 A/B MAC to gather the paperwork required to implement your selected EDI services.
