If the supplier is selling diabetic footwear, one of the following licenses is necessary: Orthotic Fitter, Orthotist, Pedorthist or Prosthetist-Orthotist; these licenses are renewed February 28 every odd year and are issued by the FL Board of Orthotists & Prosthetists, State of Florida Dept of Health, Division of Medical Quality Assurance (850) 245-4355. A Podiatrist license is also acceptable. (See Medical License requirements.) Pedorthotist License is acceptable as long as the orthosis is below the ankle (and foot). Anything above the ankle is outside the scope of a Pedorthotist and would require an orthotist license. |
