Palmetto GBA took a unique approach to implementing ISO 9000. We implemented ISO 9000 functionally versus organizationally. We did this because our main customer The Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) views our organization functionally so this method of implementation ensured our QMS enhanced those functions, and facilitates improvement across these functions. We have functional areas across several organizations, and collaboration on ISO, the ongoing maintenance of the QMS, and the coordination and implementation of customer requirement changes are beneficial to all. Palmetto GBA is including all critical business functions in the scope of this quality management system.
