As you know, the Railroad Retirement Board will implement a new nationwide toll-free number effective January 1, 2009. The new toll-free number will allow callers the option to speak with a claims representative in the field office serving the area in which the caller resides, or to select from a menu of automated service options. The current toll-free number, which will be discontinued effective December 31, 2008, provides access only to automated service options. Currently, if a caller wants to speak to a claims representative, he or she must dial the local field office number.
Call the Railroad Retirement Board toll-free at 1-877-772-5772. RRB offices are generally open from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday.
