A Web-based online claim status lookup service is not available at Palmetto GBA at this time. However, we are working with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) to get approval to provide this and other secure provider services online.
To access Medicare claim status information, providers may:
- Contact our Part B Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system at (866) 931-3903 for claim status, patient eligibility, order requests for the Standard Provider Remittance (SPR) or other general information.

- Use the Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) transaction ANSI ASC X12N 276/277 to send a Health Care Claim Status Request (276 transaction) eletronically and receive a Health Care Claim Status Response (277 transaction) back from the CMS.
If unsure whether your software is able to automatically generate 276 queries or to automatically post 277 responses, please contact your software vendor or billing service.
