To receive and retain a Medicare durable medical equipment, prosthetics, orthotics and supplies (DMEPOS) supplier number, suppliers must be in compliance with this standard.
Licensure requirements vary from state to state and locality to locality, so please check with your state and local governments for the licenses required for your type of business. Examples of licenses and permits required are sales permits, state sales tax, professional licenses for various fields (e.g., respiratory, orthotics, prosthetics), pharmacy licenses, oxygen licenses and DME licenses.
