ASC services are those surgical procedures that are identified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) on an annually updated ASC listing. The Medicare definition of covered facility services includes services that would be covered if furnished on an inpatient or outpatient basis in connection with a covered surgical procedure. Some examples are listed below:
- Nursing services
- Services of technical personnel
- Use of operating and recovery rooms
- Drugs, biologicals, surgical dressings, supplies, splints and casts
- Materials for anesthesia
- Blood plasma & platelets (except those for which the blood deductible applies)
- Diagnostic or therapeutic items & services
- Intraocular lenses (IOLs)
