Anesthetic drugs such as xylocaine, lidocaine, marcaine, ropivacaine, etc., when administered for chronic pain control are not covered by Medicare. When submitted on the same day as a surgical procedure, by the same provider, payment for the drug(s) is included in the allowance for the basic service/procedure.
