Holter Monitoring

Twenty-four hour electrocardiographic (ECG or EKG) monitoring is also referred to as long-term ECG recording, Holter monitoring or recording and dynamic electrocardiography. It is a diagnostic procedure that provides a continuous record of the ECG waveform during daily activities. This procedure is used to identify the existence of, and determine the frequency of, clinically significant rhythm disturbances and waveform abnormalities that are missed on a standard ECG. These codes are to be reported and billed only one time in any given twenty-four-hour period.
CPT Codes ranges: 93224 - 93227 and 93230 - 93233

These services may be reported globally with CPT codes 93224 or 93230 using the date of physician review as the date of service (DOS). This DOS is also used for reporting when only the physician review and interpretation for CPT codes 93227 or 93233 is performed. When submitting claims only for the recording (CPT codes 93225, 93231) or for the analysis with report (CPT codes 93226, 93232), use the date the service was performed as the DOS.
