Medicare regulations, as cited in 42 CFR 424.515, require that Medicare Contractors begin a five-year revalidation cycle. Palmetto GBA recently sent -written correspondence to some Medicare Part B providers requesting that they complete enrollment applications and return them for processing within 60 days of the postmark of the letter. This action is necessary in order to maintain Medicare billing privileges.
As specified in the letter, there are two options to complete the necessary application request:
- Paper application process: To apply by paper, download and complete the Medicare application(s) from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Web site
- Internet-based Provider Enrollment, Chain and Organizations System (PECOS). To apply via the Internet PECOS, go to the CMS Web site
- Signatures on all enrollment documents must be original
