Endoscopic Dacryocystorhinostomy with Stent/Tube Insertion Billing/Coding Guidelines

Endoscopic dacryocystorhinostomy (DCR) with or without stent/tube insertion may be performed for nasolacrimal duct obstruction. Since there is no specific CPT code for this endoscopic service, submit CPT code 68899 for the surgery and enter DCR in Loop 2300, or 2400, NTE, 02 (for paper claims, submit 'DCR' on an attachment to the claim form). To report additional work for a stent/tube placement, submit CPT code 68899 with CPT modifier 22 and enter 'DCR' as instructed above for electronic or paper claims. Palmetto GBA will not reimburse co-surgeons for endoscopic procedures.
