Did your claim, submitted with an HICN prior to December 31, 2019, return?

Any claim submitted with an HICN after the transition period, regardless of the date of service, must be resubmitted with the Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI). The claims processing system assigns a new receipt date when return to provider (RTP) claims are resubmitted. If your claim was not retransmitted prior to January 1, 2020, the claims system requires the MBI and correctly assigns Reason Code 30995. (Note: Adjustments are excluded from this edit.)
