Supplier accreditation is a requirement to be a DMEPOS supplier with Medicare with supplier standards 22, 23, 24, 25 all address this requirement. In addition to being accredited, suppliers are required to disclose any additions of products and services. Not disclosing this information to the National Supplier Clearinghouse (NSC) can result in recoupment of payment or claim denial for products and services rendered that are not accredited. To aid suppliers in ensuring the HCPCS codes they bill fall under the accreditation codes they are accredited for, a report has been created to aid suppliers to remain in compliance.
The Medicare Contractor, Medicare Pricing, Data Analysis and Coding (PDAC) has published a HCPCS to 855S Crosswalk. This new quarterly report provides a mapping of procedure codes to product and service codes as well as a field indicating if the procedure code requires accreditation. Use this new report to review the products you bill against the product categories you reported to the NSC and your Accrediting Organization.
To access, go to www.dmepdac.com - choose Other Resources – then reports – then the most current version under policy group map. You will be asked to open an excel spreadsheet. Your crosswalk information is located under the third tab.
If you have any additional questions about the crosswalk codes or issues with accessing it, please contact PDAC at 1-877-735-1326, 8:30 am – 4 pm Central Time. This is only an update from the NSC to inform you this resource is now available for your use.
