New Medicare Beneficiary Identifier (MBI) Get It, Use It

Use MBIs for all Medicare transactions. There are three ways you and your office staff can get Medicare Beneficiary Identifiers (MBIs): ask your Medicare patients, use the MAC's secure MBI look-up tool and check the remittance advice. CMS revised the article on March 19, 2020, to clarify that you need the beneficiary’s first name, last name, date of birth, and SSN to use MBI look-up tool.
