July 29, 2020, Update: Palmetto GBA has contacted all affected providers. Delivery of the new letters began on Monday, July 27, 2020, and is expected to be completed by Sunday, August 2, 2020.

Providers who submitted a Pre-Claim Review (PCR) request between July 15, 2020, and July 19, 2020, may receive an invalid UTN. Providers are encouraged to utilize the PCR Decision Status Tool to determine if a UTN is valid.

In efforts to ease provider burden, Palmetto GBA will take the following actions:

  • Contact the requestor listed on the PCR request to notify you of the issue
  • Issue a new decision letter
  • Claims submitted with the invalid UTN will Return to Provider (RTP) for correction
  • Notification will be sent via listserv messaging and website posting once all letters with corrected UTNs have been reissued

Additionally, if you receive two letters for the same beneficiary and dates of service, please ensure you use the most recent letter.
