Description
HCPCS Modifier X — intermediate stop at physician's office en route to the hospital (includes HMO non-hospital facility, clinic, etc.).
Guidelines and Instructions
- Submit this modifier to indicate the destination of an ambulance transport when the location is a physician's office
- This modifier may only be used as a destination and not an origin
- A physician's office is not a covered destination. However, under special circumstances, an ambulance transport may temporarily stop at a physician's office without affecting the coverage status of the transport
