Description
Payer ID “Medicare” must be entered on one of the lines (A, B or C) depending on whether Medicare is the primary, secondary or tertiary payer.
*Note: "Medicare" payer code for Medicare is always a "Z."
Resolution
When this reason code occurs, check to make sure the payer code (FL50) has been entered correctly (remember in FISS that Medicare is code “Z”), as well as being certain that Medicare has been entered on the appropriate line (A, B or C). You may also tab to the payer field and rekey the word “Medicare” to assure that FISS has received it correctly. No other wording should be included in this field.
