How to Submit Documentation for S-10 Audits

Data from Worksheet S-10 of the Medicare cost report may be utilized by CMS for various purposes, including the Disproportionate Share Data (DSH) uncompensated care payment adjustment. Audits of Worksheet S-10 are conducted to provide reasonable assurance that program payments are based on Medicare regulations, reimbursement principles, and cost reporting instructions (CMS Provider Reimbursement Manual, Publication 15-2, Chapter 40 [ZIP, 5.38 MB], Section 4012). 

During the S-10 Audit, Palmetto GBA may request additional documentation from the provider to support data reported on the Medicare cost report. The following are the options for submitting the Worksheet S-10 documentation:

• Palmetto GBA eServices Portal is the preferred method for submitting supporting documentation. The portal submissions are typically received within 24 hours of submission. Providers should retain the Document Control Number (DCN) that they are provided with when submitting the support, as this number might be necessary later if submission issues arise.

  • The audit department does not maintain the eServices portal. For assistance with submitting documentation, providers are referred to the help tab of the eServices homepage, or you may also contact eServices.Support@PalmettoGBA.com.
• Supporting documentation may also be submitted via email. Ensure your provider number and fiscal year end are included in the email correspondence

• Supporting documentation may be submitted in electronic format on a CD or flash drive via USPS or courier service.
